TC Jazz Band to perform at Iowa Jazz Championships April 5th

On Thursday, April 5th, the Tri-Center High School Jazz Band will travel to Ames, Iowa to compete at the Iowa Jazz Championships.  The band will perform at 11:00 am.  More details on the performance venue will be coming soon!  

Acting Jazzy March 24th

Acting Jazzy 5 will take place Saturday, March 24th at 7:00 pm.  
A wonderful night of great food and jazz provided by your Tri-Center HS and Jr. High Jazz Bands plus speech events by the Tri-Center Speech Department!  

Tickets are $15/single and $25/couple and can be purchased at Tri-Center High School, from Tri-Center Jazz Band members, and at Farmers and Merchants Bank in Neola.  There are less than 90 tickets still available so don't wait to purchase your tickets for this great event!  

TC Vocal Music department wraps up successful competition season

The Tri-Center Sensations Show Choir has had a very successful competition season, beginning in January at Des Moines Christian School, where the group placed 2nd in their division, second only to a larger group from Illinois!  The Sensations then placed 3rd at the WIC Show Choir Competition, followed by a rating of Excellent at the State Festival in Denison.  In February, the Sensations received a rating of Superior at the Midlands Show Choir Festival in Fremont, followed by a divisional Grand Championship at the Shake the Lakes festival in Spirit Lake!  The competition season concluded on March 3 with the Viking Cup at Omaha North, where the group was in direct competition
with large Omaha city high schools. They more than held their own, receiving excellent scores across the board!

The Junior High Choir and the T-C Junior Sensations show choir have been active as well!  The choir received a Superior I rating at the Middle School SWICDA Large Group and Solo/Ensemble Festival held recently at Wilson Middle School in Council Bluffs and the Jr. Sensations received an Excellent rating at the same festival.  Six choir members also sang solos at the festival.  Jenna Christner, Josh Lindquist, Rachel Morris, and Justice Weers, all received Superior ratings, Jillian Martin received an Excellent, and Breanna Allmon received Good.  In addition, Jenna, Josh, Jillian, Rachel, Justice, and Grant Way participated in the SWICDA Middle School Honor Choir held in Underwood.  The Jr. Sensations also received an Excellent rating at the Midlands Middle School Show Choir Festival in Fremont.

The High School Solo/Small Ensemble contest will be held on Saturday, April 14, at Woodbine, and the Large Group contest will be Friday, May 4, at Nodaway Valley.

TC Jazz Band 1st at Jim Coffin Jazz Festival

Tri-Center Jazz Band took 1st place in Class 1A at the Jim Coffin Jazz Festival on Friday, February 23rd.  Marie Ohlinger was named Outstanding Soloist for Class 1A.  Congratulations!

TC Jazz takes 1st at Dick Bauman Jazz Fesival; Dollen and Ohlinger receive Soloist award

The Tri-Center High-School Jazz Band received 1st place in the Class 1A Division at the 19th Annual Dick Bauman Jazz Festival in Glenwood on February 19th.  Because of their first place finish, the Tri-Center Jazz Band received an automatic bid to the Iowa Jazz Championships which will be held on the Iowa State Campus in Ames on April 5th.  

Soloist awards were given to Carter Dollen, drummer and Marie Ohlinger, alto sax player. Ohlinger also received the outstanding soloist award in class 1A.  The high school and middle school jazz bands will perform at Acting Jazzy on March 24th in the Tri-Center cafetorium.  Ticket sales begin March 1st.  Contact Paul Hart at Tri-Center High School (712-485-2257) if you are interested in purchasing a ticket.

TC qualifies for Iowa Jazz Championships with 1st place finish at SWIBA District Jazz Festival

On Monday, Feb. 19th, the Tri-Center High School band competed at the SWIBA District Jazz Festival in Glenwood.  The top two bands in each class qualify for an opportunity to compete in the Iowa Jazz Championships in Ames on Thursday, April 5th.  Tri-Center took place 1st in class 1A and will be making its third straight appearance in the state championships!  Congrats Trojans, and good luck at state!  

The Tri-Center Middle School was unable to attend the contest due to weather, but is planning a local public concert in March.  Stay tuned for more details regarding that performance.

Iowa Jazz Championship Hotel Information: 

The Tri-Center High School Jazz Band will be traveling to Ames on the night of Wednesday, April 4 for the Iowa Jazz Championships on Thursday, April 5th.  We will be staying at the Hampton Inn and Suites.  We have a block of rooms under Tri-Center Jazz Band and the group room rate is $110.  After the student/director/bus driver and chaperone rooms, we have 9-10 rooms available for parents.  These rooms are on a first come first serve basis so don't hesitate book your room for the event.  If we have enough interest, the hotel might have more rooms available at our room rate.  Here is the hotel contact information to reserve your room:

Winter Band Concert March 1st; Acting Jazzy March 24th

On Thursday March 1st, the Tri-Center Instrumental Music department will be having a winter band concert at 7:00pm in the high school gym.  The concert will involve grades 6-12 and will start at 7:00pm.  The concert will be your first opportunity to purchase tickets for Acting Jazzy featuring the high school and jr. high school jazz bands and the TC Speech department.  More info below!

Acting Jazzy 5 - Saturday, March 24th - 7:00pm -  A night of great food, jazz, and entertainment provided by the Tri-Center HS and Jr. High Jazz Bands, Speech Department, and TC Music Boosters! Tickets are $15/single and $25/couple with only 250 tickets being sold.  Menu will be pork loin, baked potato, corn, salad/roll, and assorted cheesecakes.  Tickets are available at Tri-Center High School, Farmers & Merchants Bank in Neola, and from members of the Tri-Center Jazz Bands.  Don't miss out on your opportunity for a wonderful night out with same great kids doing great things!  

TC Jazz Bands to perform at District Jazz Festival in Glenwood February 19th

The Tri-Center Trojan Jazz Bands will head to Glenwood High School for the Dick Bauman District Jazz Festival on Monday, February 19th.  The Junior High Jazz Band will perform in the gym at 1:30 pm and the High School Jazz Band performs at 4:40 pm also in the gym.  1A/2A middle school awards are at 2:45 pm and the High School awards are at 5:20 pm.  Good luck Trojans!  

TC Jazz Band receives Division I rating at IHSMA State Jazz Band Contest

On Saturday, January 27th, the Tri-Center Jazz Band traveled to Treynor to participate in the IHSMA State Jazz Band contest.  The band received a Division I rating from all three judges earning their 4th straight division I rating.  Mr. Hart is extremely proud of the band's hard work!  The band will travel to Glenwood to compete at the Dick Bauman Jazz Festival on Feb. 19th for a chance to qualify for the Iowa Jazz Championships held in April.
