Elementary News: Mrs. Finken's class studies the rainforest; raises funds for Omaha Zoo Foundation

Mrs. Finken's 2nd grade class at Tri-Center Elementary spent a month learning about the rainforest. They learned how plants and animals work together, what resources we get from the rainforest, the effects of deforestation, and ways to help save the rainforest. The students looked into ways to make a difference and decided to "adopt" the golden frog at the Omaha Henry-Doorly Zoo (the frog is critically endangered in the wild). The money raised helps take care of the frogs that live at the zoo but also helps preserve the animal's native habitat: the rainforest! The students wrote persuasive letters for family and friends and were able to collect and donate over $250 to the Omaha Zoo Foundation. Great job, 2nd grade!
