TC Volleyball attends ISU VB Camp; unexpected stop shows true colors

The Tri-Center volleyball team recently attended the Iowa State University volleyball camp.  Coach Rachel Eikenberry shared the following story from camp.  #TCStrong #WeAreTC

On our way to team camp at ISU, we generally stop at Jordan Creek to break up the trip.  I called my niece, Maggie, who lives near there to tell her we would be stopping by if she wanted to meet us.

She informed me that Sadie (my great-niece and 7 Habits teacher to our team last year) was throwing a surprise 1/2 birthday party for her best friend Gracie (4th grader) who has leukemia.  The TC team adjusted plans and stopped at the party just in time for the surprise.

Gracie had just had chemo that morning and was hot and tired. The temps were in the 90's.  While the kids played games, we entertained Gracie in the shade with a song the team wrote about the 7 Habits last year after learning about them from Sadie.

We also sang Happy Birthday - country western style and presented Gracie with some Tri-Center volleyball shirts, water bottles and candy.

I'll send another power pose picture with our instructor Sadie.  She's a hoot.  She'd talk to our staff if you ever need a speaker.

Check out the smiles on the girls. Feel good memory for sure.  Her family was grateful, laughing and crying.  The girls got a shout-out on her Caring Bridge site, too.
