Students honored by Midlands of Iowa Reading Council for creative stories

Landon Abel, Lana VanArsdol, and Slade Smith from Mrs. Matson's first-grade class were recognized for their creative stories sponsored by the Midlands of Iowa Reading Council. The awards ceremony was Thursday, April 19th in Glenwood. Congratulations!


TC Elementary to celebrate the final 26 days of school with ABC Countdown

Tri-Center Elementary will be having an ABC Countdown in celebration of the last 26 days of school! Each of the last 26 days will be a letter theme starting with A (Athletic Day) on April 19. Check out the flyer for more information about each day's theme!

Track and Field Day to be held May 15th

Tri-Center Elementary Track and Field Day will take place on Tuesday, May 15th.

Shelton named winner of Youth Art Month contest; Arnold, Brockhoff, and Sonderland receive honorable mention

Tri-Center third-grader Samantha Shelton won the Youth Art Month billboard contest sponsored by the Joslyn Art museum association.  Her artwork will be on display on a billboard at 21st and Broadway in Council Bluffs for the month of March.  (The billboard should be finished by the middle of this week) She will also receive a family membership to the Joslyn Art Museum.


Kacee Arnold (3),  Maggie Brockhoff (5), and Kai Sonderland (3) were awarded honorable mention.


Mrs. Lyons submitted 25 artworks for consideration and all of the artwork will be on display at the Council Bluffs library during the month of March in honor of Youth Art Month.

Read Across America February 26 - March 2

Kindergarten and Preschool students enjoy field trip to the Phoenix

On Wednesday, February 14th, the Kindergarten and Preschool classes got to take a special field trip th the Phoenix Theater in Neola. Students enjoyed a fun movie and even got to have their own treats. Thanks to all the parents for donating to this fun trip.  The teachers and students loved it!

Enroll now for Preschool for the 2018-2019 school year. 

Prescreening is Friday, March 9, 2018, from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.  Screening cost is free. 

Who: Children ages 2 1/2 to 4 who live in the Tri-Center Community School District

Please call the Tri-Center Elementary office at 712-485-2271 to make an appointment and register for the 2018-2019 school year. 

1st grade students learn about turkeys

On Wednesday, Christina Roelofs from Shelby County Conservation came and shared all about turkeys. Students learned all about wild turkeys life cycle, habitat, predators and even brought in a mounted turkey for us all to look at.  Students loved seeing the "real" turkey and feeling the feathers.

Tri-Center Elementary Parents as Partners is selling raffle tickets for these 3 beautiful baskets. There is a Reading-themed basket, a Holiday-themed basket, and a Movie-themed basket. Tickets are $1 each or 6 tickets for $5 towards the basket(s) of your choosing. If you are interested in purchasing, please stop by the elementary office or request a ticket form today!





TC Kindergarten learns about owls from Conservation Naturalist

On Wednesday, Christina Roelofs from Shelby County Conservation came and spoke to all three Kindergarten classes. She brought with her two Eastern Screech Owls named Harry and G.G. Students listened to a story and learned fun facts about owl's wings, feathers and talons.
